• Construction of Water Retaining Dams

For any irrigation scheme to be successful there must be a constant supply of water. This therefore brings in the idea of storage of the water to be used during the dry spell. A number of dams have been constructed so as to buffer up the water demand during this period.

• Piped irrigation systems

Fallow irrigation has got its limitations in that it does not favour framing on elevated areas. This then calls for other methods of irrigation to ensure that farm plots at higher altitudes are also irrigated.
